How Stake Dice provably fair works

Stake Dice produces a number from 0.00 to 100.00. That roll is derived from a single value generated by HMAC-SHA256 over your server seed, client seed and the bet's nonce, then scaled into the 0-100 range. You choose a target and whether you are rolling over or under it, and the payout is set by how much of the range your bet covers.

Because the roll depends only on the seed pair and nonce - all committed before the bet - it is fixed in advance and fully checkable. The hashed server seed you see beforehand is the casino's commitment; once you rotate seeds and the unhashed server seed is revealed, anyone can recompute the roll and confirm it was never altered.

How to verify a Stake Dice result

1The verifier computes HMAC-SHA256 using your unhashed server seed as the key and the string clientSeed:nonce:0 as the message.
2It takes the first four bytes of that 32-byte hash and converts them to a number between 0 and 1 with b0/256 + b1/256^2 + b2/256^3 + b3/256^4. For example the bytes [225, 17, 89, 12] give roughly 0.8792.
3Dice maps that float to a roll with floor(float x 10001) / 100, so 0.8792 becomes a roll of 87.92.
4Compare 87.92 against your target and over/under choice - if it matches your bet history, the round was provably fair.

Your win chance equals the share of the 0-100.00 range your bet covers, and the multiplier follows the Dice multiplier formula 99 / win-chance - the 99 rather than 100 is Stake's 1% house edge, giving Dice an RTP of about 99%. This is the same '99 formula' players reference: roll over 50.00 and you win just under half the time at about 1.98x; chase a 9.9x and your winning window shrinks to roughly 10%.
